# Cold Wallet Storage Recommendations

One of the most effective strategies for securing digital assets is **“cold-hot separation”** — storing large, long-term holdings in **offline (cold) wallets**, while keeping only operational funds in online wallets or on the **ChainBitX** platform.

***

**Common Types of Cold Wallets:**

* **Hardware Wallets** (e.g., Ledger, Trezor): Physical devices that must be connected to a computer to perform transactions.
* **Paper Wallets**: Private keys printed on paper — fully offline and unhackable via the internet.
* **Air-gapped Devices (Cold Backup Phones or PCs)**: Devices never connected to the internet, used solely to generate private keys and sign transactions offline.

***

**Usage Recommendations:**

* Transfer assets not involved in short-term trading to a **cold wallet**, minimizing exposure to platform-related risks.
* **Securely store your recovery phrases and private keys** — never photograph them or save them on internet-connected devices.
* **Regularly check** the condition of your cold wallet device and keep firmware/software **up to date**.

***

**Friendly Reminder:**

While cold wallets provide **superior security**, they come with **no recovery options** if you lose your private key or seed phrase. Always create **multiple backups** and store them in **physically secure, isolated environments**.
